Q:
I have seen heavy railroad cars and mobile homes flipped over by strong storms. What keeps the Safe Shed from
flipping over? A: Railroad cars and mobile homes often have large air
spaces under them that allow the winds to create lift and topple the item. Safe Sheds are designed to sit flat on the
ground or concrete pad , eliminating any dead air space and minimizing the potential for lift to overturn the unit. Q: What purpose do the anchors serve? A:
The anchor systems are designed to prevent the unit from sliding from it's original site should they be hit with
a straight line wind. The earth anchors and concrete/rebar anchors go four feet into the ground, and counter the wind forces.
The pre-fab anchors that attach the unit to a concrete slab use the additional weight of the slab to counteract the wind forces. Q: Will the shelter collapse if something heavy like a tree falls on it? A: The shelter design utilizes several components that prevent the unit from collapsing
under the impact of a falling tree. The walls and roof are four inches thick and have a grid of 1/2"
grade 60 steel rebar running thoughout the structure. The horizontal rebar runs through the corners of the building
and the rebar in the roof extends into the side wall cavities before the concrete is added to lend additional strength
and preventing collapse. The roof itself can support about 5000 lbs per square foot.

Q:
How do I find out if I can qualify for any grant funds? A: There
are some grant funds available in some states through FEMA. The FEMA grants are usually acquired through the state's
local Emergency Management Agency. The grant funds often require the applicant to complete the grant process prior
to purchasing the storm shelter. Q: Is there financing available
to purchase a storm shelter? A: Safe Sheds, Inc. does not provide
a financing option at this time. You can check with your local bank for financing options. We also accept payment
by Visa, Mastercard and Discover Card.
